Ancient Sites Along the Inca Trail

Today began with continued trekking along the Inca Trail, moving toward the second major pass at Runkurakay (3,950 meters / 12,959 feet). The route included long stone staircases and well-preserved trail sections built into the mountainside.

Along the way, the team passed several Inca sites, including Runkurakay and Sayacmarca, with time to stop, explore, and take in the surrounding views. The team also avoided much of the crowding by timing their departures to move through the route more comfortably.

By late afternoon, the group arrived at camp and settled in for the evening. Dinner was served in the dining tent, and the remainder of the night was spent resting and preparing for the final days of the trek.
